This is one of the most powerful scenes ever. Denis thought that Arnie was talking about his girlfriend Lee. But he was talking about his vehicle. You can have love for anything. You can have love for your career. You can have love for your spirit. You can continue to feed it. Anyone who's ever loved anything should be able to understand this.

He could have easily have shot the russian general with ease behind cover. Instead he waited until the guy turns around fully exposes himself. He basically was committing suicide to have the chance to say you lose and look the guy in the face. Kinda seems like a draw....

What Arnie speaks here inaudibly is 'You shit!', followed by Dennis saying 'f*** you!'. In the novel, it was entirely spoken by Lebay possessing Arnie in a car park while Dennis was inside his '74 Duster.

This is probably the most patriotic movie ever made. The Blu Ray extras are MUST SEE. Such a sad scene, the brothers died there on the bench.

It was the right call for the context of the movie to remove this scene. Here's why 1) A big appear of the movie is Christine's windows always being blacked out making the viewer wonder if Christine is acting on her own like when she killed the factory worker and Darnell, or if Arnie is behind the wheel. It adds more suspense for when Arnie is revealed in the final showdown with Christine to actually be behind the wheel. 2) Unlike a book a movie has a limited run time, generally around 90 minutes or so. While books have all the time in the world to explore deeper complexities of characters, multiple branching stories, etc. With a movie you generally want to get to the point of establishing your heroes and villains. In the context of the movie Leigh and Dennis are the heroes trying to save their friend from a demonic killer car. While a book can explore Leigh and Dennis hooking up behind Arnie's back, in a movie you usually don't want to muddy those waters. You want to have the good guys the audience watching can invest and root for going up against the big bad. It's kinda like wrestling in that way. You want to have your babyfaces and your heels. Sometimes adding to much source material can affect a movie negatively with certain things getting left unexplained, the movie becoming confusing or it feeling bloated and rushed trying to tackle to much in a limited time span. If this was more of a series, a Christine TV show rather then a Christine movie, then I'd say sure, lets explore this. But for a movie, I think the right call was made to cut it.

I loved how Jed gave the Colonel a fair chance at him instead of just shooting him while his back was turned. This is a movie that actually felt like it really did happen. 40 years later and it’s still good enough to watch in 2024! #Wolverines

Man got mad and tried to kill his "best friend" in cold blood in front of a crowd of people, just because he thought she was cheating on her and stole ger from him, even though he brutally severed ties with her, treated her like dirt and already had a girl who he loved. Corrupted or not, I don't even feel sorry for him any more.

I'm glad this scene was cut. The whole point with Leigh and Dennis is they where trying to help and save Arnie. If they were messing around behind his back that sort of screws up that narrative.

    • @kaijufan6246

Agreed. If the mean spiritedness of this and the book were in the movie, like in Thinner, then, we wouldn't have cared about Leigh or Dennis. Which is why I actually like the version we got of this movie. Characters we can actually relate and care about. Dennis and Leigh were great friends to Arnie in the final movie. How many people in this world, especially, today, wish they had friends like them?
